New Years Resolutions 2014

Good Morning! This week is a short week for most people-yay for the holidays! There is a lot going on at The Baby Burp! New Years is around the corner- and I'm fully feeding my addictions this last week before I give up on them for New Years. Of course, I have the same "I'm going to lose weight" resolution as everyone else- but I'm REALLY going to commit to it and others. So here are my personal resolutions (there are a lot):
1. Remember to put God first and try to MAKE time to devotion and prayer everyday.
2. Get a little more organized with schedules.
3. Find time to work out- even if it's 20 minutes everyday.
4. Get off sodas. I'm too addicted to Coca Cola.
5. Eat less sugars.
6. See how long I can stay away from fried food and limit fried food. Kind of hard to do in New Orleans.
7. Make a date night with the hubs once a month. Our schedules are too hectic.
That's it! I'm strong willed so I know I can do these if I really put my mind to it! What are your resolutions? Please comment and share- I would love to hear them!

Remember only a few more days left for our Facebook giveaway and please help us spread the news about U.S. National Mompreneur's Day! www.facebook.com/thebabyburp for title of Most Celebrated Mompreneur 2014 and other goodies!
Also- hurry today is the last day to enter a contest at www.businessamongmoms.com to get a feature on her blog for U.S. National Mompreneur's Day!

Let me hear about your resolutions!
Toods,
Amy

U.S. National Mompreneur's Day January 2

Stay tuned because this week we are going to have a special giveaway and celebrate Mompreneur's. This is all leading up to January 2 which has been declared U.S. National Mompreneur's Day by The Baby Burp.
Where did the word "Mompreneur" come from? Patricia Cobe and Ellen Parlapiano wrote two books and coined the word in 1996. "Mompreneurs" and "Mompreneur's Online: Using The Internet For Work At Home Success". Their books along with their internet website created a new movement among moms who started their own businesses. U.S. National Mompreneur's Day is a day to celebrate this movement that started almost eighteen years ago and recognize hard working moms.
Get ready this week to celebrate Mompreneur's with us and Business Among Moms who have partnered with us on this campaign to get a National Day of a Recognition.

Misconceptions of a Mommypreneur

Just because I'm a WAHM doesn't mean my business is just a hobby. This is the biggest misconception of a Mompreneur. In fact I work harder and longer hours now than when I worked a 9-5 job. Work from home mothers just have to be more organized and work in between feedings, changing diapers, running errands, playing, cooking dinners, comforting the kids, reading, and not to mention the many cleaning chores. In fact, I'm writing this on my IPad while rocking my son who is what seems to be coming down with a cold. Sometimes we find ourselves juggling work and being a mommy at the same time. I also find myself up late at night doing many emails and planning while many are sleeping. For some it's a choice to stay at home and work because they have been career oriented all their life. For some it's a need to bring in some extra income. Whatever it may be, it is not a hobby just because you're not going into an office and working a 9-5 job. It is not a side job. It's a job in addition to being a mother. That's why we have come up with a day for Mompreneur's to be recognized for all their hard work, dedication and running on a few hours of sleep a night. Will you join me in supporting Mompreneur's on January 2?
You can read more about this special day on our blog page and gear up to promote this special day!
Toods,
Amy

Losing Baby Weight

It's been nine months since my little sweet pea was born and in still have 15 lbs of baby weight to lose.  Sadly five of those lbs. are ever since Thanksgiving. The Christmas sweets are so tempting. The other day I bought a pack of sugar cookies. Ten cookies with a whooping 160 calories each. I are the whole dang thing in two days. My never ending philosophy is to get rid of unhealthy foods by consuming it all and start a new diet regime on Monday. Monday comes around and I go to the store with a detailed grocery list of healthy meals and snacks. Temptation takes a grip at me in the bakery and I always fall for the sweets. Cookies, fudge, cupcakes, you name it and I buy it. I have never been a "sweets" person, but ever since my last pregnancy I can't help but crave them. You only crave what you eat so they say, so I need to stop eating so much junk food and back to my healthy eating. I'm going to be nursing only for a few more months and I also know that when that stops I'll add a few more lbs. to the mix.
So added to my fixation on sweets, here are my excuses for not exercising.
1. I have two kids and a business (enough said, right?)
2. There are no gyms in a 30 mile radius that has child care. (Hubby works a lot)
3. My excersise bike is in the garage buried under a pile of junk. ( our house was in a flood last year and everything we haven't gone through is still in a big pile in the garage.)
4. It's too cold outside to lug two kids in a stroller to go walking.
5. When I get on the floor to do any crunches, push ups, etc., I have a kid on top of me immediately.
6. Xbox Zumba is in the garage (reference #3)
7. Any aerobics excersise I try, there is a kid under my feet.
8.I have knee and back problems.
9. No I can't wait until my kids are asleep to do anything. They do not take simultaneous naps if any at all. When they do I'm cleaning or working on my business.

So my excuses are legit right? I know they say if you want to do something you will make it happen. Well when I do have time it's usually late at night and I'm exhausted to excersise. I'm not into diet pills, fad diets, slim loss drinks. I get hungry easy and I get hangry. So, busy mommies- what do you do? How do you lose weight and keep it off while taking care of the kiddos? I would love to hear your stories!
Until then I got a new app that will track all my calories. Maybe when I see how much I'm eating on a daily basis I can control my bad eating habits. We will see and hopefully in the spring I can post a weight loss success post!

National Mompreneur's Day

Yes, you read that right. National Mompreneur's Day! Call me crazy, but I'm starting a campaign to get January 2 as National Mompreneur's Day. 95% of the Sellers at The Baby Burp are moms. I'm a mom. We work hard to create a business and extra income while maintaining a household. Some Super Mompreneur's work a 9-5 job, have a small business, and take care of family! Let's face it- we deserve a day to be recognized! I'm officially declaring January 2 National Mompreneur's Day. I have it registered to be on the calendar of events for 2015. It has to be approved and support documented. Are you a Mompreneur? Are you interested in getting this approved? Help me get the word out and let's support other Mompreneur's and get the recognition we deserve! Let's get twitter parties, Facebook posts and shares, bloggers blogging and get this rolling! We have a month! I have created a page on my blog for support. If you blog, please post about this campaign and email me your name and a link to the blog so I can post it on my page for documentation. We can do this super mommies!

Cyber Monday 2013

Cyber Monday starts at midnight and consumers are predicted to spend a whopping 1.8 BILLION online. BILLION. One of, if not the biggest online shopping days of the year. I don't know about you, but I would so much rather shop online than fight the crowds on Black Friday. I need my sleep. I much rather would surf the web cozy at home drinking my coffee. In fact, I shop online a lot. I usually know what I want or have a good idea what I'm looking for. This time last year I was buying everything new for our home online. Our house was in a flood so we were remodeling and getting it back together. Our family was living in a camper in our front yard and I sat in the camper with my iPad and bought all new furniture and accessories online. I don't think our Fedex and UPS delivery people liked me very much, I ordered a lot of heavy furniture.
Anyways, I became an expert on online shopping and have a few tips.

1. Look for coupon codes. On the website they usually have a coupon code advertised somewhere. If not, check the websites Facebook page or Twitter account if they are advertising codes. You can usually save an additional 10-20% or get free shipping with these.

2. Always pay with a credit card on a secured site. If anything happens, your cc usually has some protection for fraud and your not getting your bank account doesn't get drained.

3. Never buy on a public wifi "hotspot" or on a public computer.

4. Keep documentation. Print the receipt and write or circle your confirmation number. File it in a folder. If you don't print, make sure you have a notebook with confirmation, amount, where, what, date and customer service phone number.

5. Read the return policies before you purchase. Don't get stuck with an item that can't be returned if already opened.

6. Double check delivery times! Make sure it will be delivered sometime before Christmas. Online shopping is great for purchasing a product for someone who lives far away. You can enter their address and have it shipped to their house.

7. Check for free gift wrapping. If you're like me, you hate to gift wrap! This is a great bonus that you can find especially on cyber Monday.

Have fun shopping online and let me know what cool deals you find!

Toods,
Amy
