The Baby Burp: Do You Have A Schedule?

Are you a mommy on a schedule? Do you have a daily or weekly routines? As crazy as my life is-trying to balance a business (blessed to work from home) and a husband who works shift work, my type A personality is living a type B personality lifestyle-  and it drives me crazy. Ideally -my life would be on a schedule. I'm a "routine" person and if my routine is thrown of course, I get lost. Please tell me I'm not the only one! This is a typical day in my life:

1) Get up with the kids. Change diapers and get juice for them.
2) Drink my coffee and read emails while the kids play/watch cartoons.
3) Eat breakfast/ clean up.
4) Work on Business ( blog, social media, brainstorming, connecting)
5) Laundry and light cleaning
6) Errands/ Play with kids.
7) Lunch
8) Light Cleaning
9) Try to get kids to take naps
10) Work on business while kids nap ( if they do) if not, it's quiet time and cartoons
11) Evening activity ( my sons soccer practice, park, bike ride, play outside)
12) Dinner
13) Clean Up
14) Kids Bath Time
15) Read Books
16) Kids nighttime
17) Work

Now when my husband has a day off we are out and about running errands, appointments, playing and doing something fun as a family. It's not unusual for us to be gone most of the day and they are my favorite days to spend as a family. That is why it's important for me to schedule things for work when I do work. Sometimes I find myself up really late trying to get things in order so I can do thing as a family when my husband is off.

This summer I'm going to try and incorporate the above summer schedule into my days. I'm not going to be able to follow it, but it will be a reminder of something different to do with the kids. I do suffer a little mommy guilt when I'm working and when I'm not focused on them entirely. At least I'm here for them and do my best to "work around" my time with the kids. The great thing about my life is it's flexible- and I'm around my kids 24/7. Being a WAHM mommy is all about balance and sometimes the sacrifice of sleep- but that's what caffeine is for.

So as much as I love schedules and wish my life were on a schedule- it can't be in my household when kids and work are involved. Life throws curve balls and it changes. Schedules are just a go- by for me and inspiration. Balance is what I strive for.

What about you? Do you have a set schedule that works for you? Are you able to follow it through? Comment below and let me know your schedule!

The Baby Burp: The Baby Industry is BOOMING

At The Baby Burp, we are doing our best to stand out and promote the products of our Sellers. However, the baby industry is ginormous but it's BOOMING. Partly because of a rise in stay at homes moms due to the economy. Whether these moms are working from home creating, sewing, crafting, inventing because they need the income or they have an internal desire to keep working, the baby industry is big and there is a lot of competition.  Here are some reasons why our products are different than retailers:

The Baby Burp: Mommies Need Pampering

As a mommy you may have noticed that you don't get to pamper yourself like you did before kids. Those days of going to a spa are pretty much gone or far and few between. Well, I discovered Rodan and Fields and now I never need to go anywhere to get the results I've always longed for. Their products are AMAZING and the results of tighter skin, smaller pores, and less wrinkles are enough to make me a believer and continued customer for life. I've even tried their self tanner and it's the best ever. I use the Macro Exfolliater once a week and it's like a mini microdermabrasion treatment at home. It takes the dead skin cells off and makes my face glow! The redefining cleansing mask is a must have for me- it's the only thing I've found to shrink my large pores daily. I now treat myself to my own personal "spa" time at home and you can too!
My friend Julie is running a special that any new Preferred Customers that sign up before May 29 (tomorrow!) are entered in a drawing for a free AMP MD System (shown above) a $200 value! AWESOMENESS!

The Baby Burp: Summertime Sun Safety

Summertime is officially here and we all know the dangers of the sun. Here is a great excerpt from WebMD concerning our children and tips to keep them protected all the time but in particular during the hot summer months.

Reviewed by Roy Benaroch, MD

"It only takes one severe sunburn to potentially double your child's chances of getting melanoma later in life," says Andrea Cambio, MD, FAAD, a board-certified pediatric dermatologist. "We really need to buckle down and protect our young."Lazy days at the pool or beach are warm weather rituals for many families. But if you're tempted to let your child play outdoors for even a few minutes without the proper sun protection, you’re taking an unhealthy risk.

Slather on the Sunscreen – No Exceptions

Remember how much you marveled at your baby's smooth skin? Don't let the sun destroy that beautiful canvas. Ultraviolet sunlight damages the skin and can lead to wrinkles and cancers later on. There is no such thing as a healthy tan; a tan is a sign of sun damage.

Always put sunscreen on your child before going outside. Make a fun game out of it. Teach your child to spell BEENS to help you remember to cover often-forgotten spots: Back of knees, Ears, Eye area, Neck, and Scalp.

Apply sunscreen 15 to 30 minutes before going outside. Then reapply every 2 hours, or sooner if your child has been swimming. Water-resistant sunscreen wears off -- check the label to see how soon you'll need to reapply.

If your child attends school or daycare, make sure teachers are told to apply sunscreen before any outdoor activities.

Choose a Child-Friendly Sunscreen

Can't decide which sunscreen is best for your child? Cambio and pediatrician Jerome A. Paulson, MD, FAAP, medical director for national and global affairs at the Child Health Advocacy Institute of Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., shared some child-friendly recommendations.

Their No. 1 tip: Choose a sunscreen that contains zinc oxide or titanium dioxide because the compounds are less irritating than others and do not get absorbed into the skin. "These ingredients are probably the safest ones out there right now," Paulson says.

There is some concern that other sunscreen ingredients, particularly oxybenzone and retinyl palmitate (a form of vitamin A), may cause harm. However, both chemicals are FDA approved for use in sunscreens.

The Baby Burp: Seller Success-A Great Profile

There are many tools and many ways to be successful at selling in a marketplace environment such as The Baby Burp. One of the ways to be more successful is creating a good profile. Buyers are able to browser the Seller page which lists all the Seller's stores. An empty profile or no profile picture will detract a buyer. In the buyers mind they see a Seller that is not that serious and may not deliver when it comes to sales. Why? Because they don't know who they are buying from! Sellers need to remember they are a store and buyers like to feel a connection to the Seller. A buyer will feel more comfortable and more apt to buy from a Seller that has a profile picture and description.
The more detailed the Seller profile the better. Here are some questions to think about when creating your profile:

1). What do you do for a living? Is this your living? Is this a side job? Are you retired?
2). How long have you been doing this?
3). What got you started?
4). Where are you from?
5). What is your best seller?

Always remember to upload a picture of youself, a product, or your logo! A profile is not complete without a picture to associate you or your store with. This along with many other Seller Sucess Tips can get you the business and buyers you are looking for.
