The Baby Burp: Sayings from my son about his Dad

"Daddy, you make my heart happy!" has got to be my favorite and the most endearing thing I have heard my son say to my husband. The bond between my kids and their daddy is amazing and little sayings like this just makes my heart melt.  Even though my son is two, here are a few other things that he has said to me about his daddy that proves that children understand love at a young age.

1) "Daddy is silly", he says this in a lovingly way when my husband is goofing around dancing, singing, playing pretend with him.  He loves to be goofy like his daddy.

2.) "Daddy is a good guy", my son is becoming fascinated with superheros and understands there usually a hero and a villain.  He thinks his daddy is a hero.

3. "I'm helping to save people like daddy". My husband works at the ERT (Emergency Response Team) at work and is a firefighter and emergency medical tech. I see my son pretending to be a firefighter when playing and he somehow understands that daddy is a hero too, even if he isn't superman. He looks up to his daddy.

4. "Daddy works to help me". Awww. He knows his daddy works a lot and often misses him during the day or night because my husband works shift work. I'm guessing one of us told him that daddy has to go to work to provide. I'm sure he doesn't fully understand- but he will one day. He knows that daddy is at work for him.

5. "Daddy, I love you" Of course this is the saying that truly makes your heart melt when your little ones say this. We want to be loved as parents and when your little one utters those words- you know they mean it and it makes being a parent all worth it. He knows his daddy loves him too.
